National competition a great experience for NW robotics team

North White High School Team Pulse may not have walked away the winner in last weekend's national robotics competition but the experience gained from that level of competition for the third-year team was invaluable.
In March, the team took the championship at the FIRST - For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology - Boilermaker Regional Competition at Purdue University.
The win put them on the road to the nationals in Atlanta, where they competed against more than 80 teams in their field - double the competition they faced in West Lafayette.
At the end of the three days of matches the team ended up number 65 out of 86 teams on the Galileo field, said team mentor Teresa Seward.
"We won two of our seven matches. We almost won our final match 42 to 40 against the TechnoKats of Kokomo and their alliance, but lost after being assessed a 10-point penalty because one of our alliance members descored a game marker from the rack," Seward explained.
